If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I've been asked to reprogram a bunch of CP200XLS for one of our fire departments.
As I understand it I can have 16 scan lists with up to 16 channels in each list in the Limited Keypad version, which is what they have.
I've set up 2 scan lists with about 6 channels in each list. One of my buttons is configured for Toggle System Scan On/Off and another for Scan List Edit. We're using conventional VHF frequencies. I have checked Scan List in Programmable Menu and have each channel assigned to the appropriate List 1 or 2 in both Conventional Personalities and Scan List.

The only scan list that seems to be operating is List 1.

I've been trying to figure out how the operator selects which scan list they want to use, and which scan list to edit from the keypad.

Many thanks,, Dave B

Make sure the conventional channels you want in scan list two are actually strapped to scan list 2 in the conventional personality settings. To initiate a scan or edit of that list the radio needs to be parked on a channel within the list you want to scan then press the scan button to scan or the edit button to edit.

Thanks very much Skypilot007, I had everything in place but didn't realize I had to park on a channel in the scan list. I kept looking for a way to select List 2 from the menu.
I appreciate your help!

I have about 100 Personalities programmed and 4 scan lists. This all seems to be working the way I want but I am confused about the multiple references to a particular scan list.
Each personality has a Scan List field where I can specify a previously set up scan list, or none. I have List 1 through 4. When I go to the Scan area at the bottom of the tree, I have List 1 through 4. When I select one list I can move whatever personality into the scan list, regardless of what I put in the Personality Scan List field.
What is the purpose of the Scan List field in the Personality settings?

Thanks again,, Dave B

Not sure why each channel has to be strapped to a specific scan list even though it can be included on other scan lists. One thing to remember is that regardless of what scan list you add the channel to, if you park the radio on a channel and initiate a scan the radio will scan the designated list for that channel.

I got that part, thanks.

I'll experiment a bit more, but wonder if it has to do with Personalities that could be available for field programming. I haven't spent much time there as I find the field programming pretty awkward.

Thanks for you help.
