I am waiting on the PRO-96 I ordered on ebay. It has 1.0 CPU version. The readio is coming with a programming cable. My question is this: Can I log onto a website and download a newer CPU version? If I can where and how is this done? and is it even worth getting the newer CPU version? Ill be using it to monitor two or three digital trunking sites at a time plus a few conventional channels so Im not really sure if the newer cpu version will improve the scanner at all. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

No you cannot update the CPU. you can only update the DSP-App which is 1.4. You can send it to Radio Shack repair center to replace the CPU board, but cost$$$$, the current CPU is 1.5. You can check your version of DSP, and CPU by pressing 3 when you see the welcome to Digital Trunking screen appears on power-up. You can't update the DSP-Voc also.
You should be fine monitoring the KS KSICS system if that's what you are intending to use it for.
