So I received a subscription "renewal" offer from CQ in the mail a few minutes ago. I put renewal in quotes because I haven't had a subscription to CQ in about a year or so. I did not renew last year because they started skipping issues and the makeup issues they promised at the end of my subscription never showed up. I figured they were toast and done for good, didn't give them another thought. Then this spring fever special shows up in my mailbox today...

Have they gotten their act together? Are they still having problems delivering issues on time? One of my biggest pet peeves with CQ was the fact that the event calendar was always out of date. By the time I received the current issue, everything on the calendar had passed.

I'm willing to give them another shot if they've improved, but it seems unlikely that they could fix their problems in such a short period of time, especially with revenue dropping off due to fed up subscribers not renewing.

I haven't subscribed to CQ in years, but according to most the the ham forums, they are still having some issues. Again, not a current subscriber so I do not have first hand experience.

It seems the printed magazine industry is failing. I subscribe, to QEX, AMSAT, Nuts and Volts. QEX went bi monthly, AMSAT did same and then went electronic, So did Nuts and Volts and went apparently on a hiatus on their printing for a couple years. I am about at the point of cancelling them all. I prefer printed to on line readers which are clunky and dont give any away time from the "net".

I received the renewal notice also.
The last time I had a subscription
I received only three issues.
So remember the old saying
Fool me once shame on you
Fool me twice shame on me

That's how you know it's run by authentic hams when it's sloppy and slapassed like that. Just like most whackermobiles and homebrew setups. CQ CQ 74s

I received my June issue last week (June 14?) so they have gotten alot better. I chose to weather the storm and stick with them.

In case you haven't heard, there is an e-magazine called The Spectrum Monitor. It's very much like the old Monitoring Times. As a matter of fact, the editor and several of the contributing authors are also former employees of M/T. If you ask nicely, they may send a sample issue to peruse at your leisure. I've been a subscriber to the mag since 2016...very satisfied client here!

Here's the link: The Spectrum Monitor - Powered by Network Solutions.
