For those in the Roanoke area, Craig County Sheriffs Office is now using 37.080 for repeater and dispatch with a digital CTCSS of 114, replacing the 39.480 (114.8 PL). Also, Fire and Rescue are still on 39.500 but in carrier squelch, no longer using 114.8 tone. I was recently on Potts Mountain and scene the site, it comes in clear down here in Danville.

Thanks for the update, David. Did you hear anything on 39.6 and 155.67? I have yet to hear anything on those frequencies, part of the same Craig County license.

Update: It appears that 37.08 is a repeater. Hooray! We can hear the mobiles now. I wonder if the input is 39.48 or 155.67...

Craig Changes

Looking at the license (WQAW-220) 39.600 is for mobiles only so I am ASSUMING that to be the input. As for 155.670, thats for their extenders, which were on 154.710 years ago, but the license (KIN-728) expired. So again assuming, that changed when the new license was issued. I heard Craig dispatch an EMS call last night on 39.500 but no longer using the PL of 114.8, neither of my radios locked on to a tone so apparently thats now carrier squelch.

Craig County also has a new license for WQHG-869 on 463.2625, 463.2875, 463.3125, and 463.3375 and it supposed to be for county schools. The repeater is atop Potts Mountain and another in Newport, which is actually in Giles County. Danville may be a little far for a UHF signal from those locations. Let me know if you hear anything or can confirm the mobile input.

I heard both base and mobile (Craig 2 marking 10-41 and an acknowledge) clearly this morning on the 39.480. I haven't picked up the 37.080 but will still be monitoring.

Don't you mean DCS of 114? I heard them a few times recently on 37.08 and I was getting the DCS out of 'em. Nonetheless, thank you for the update.

From what I was told by a member of Craig Rescue Squad, the 39.60 frequency is supposed to be their talkaround channel. I think it is licensed to the fire department but they both use it.

Also, I don't believe they ever intentionally used PL on the Fire/Rescue channel (39.5). I don't believe it is programmed into any of their mobile radios. I think it was probably just a carry over from have the PL going on the sheriff channel and staying on for the fire/rescue channel as well.

I know for a fact the mobile units in at least 2 of their 3 ambulances are single channel Micors. They only have 39.5 in them. They are trying to upgrade to multi-channel capability. They have some portables (HT750s) with 16 channel capability but I don't know what all they have programmed in them.
