When I bought my scanner (RS Pro 97) the guy at radio shack said he heard cranberry was switching to a trunked system but wasnt sure when. I don't see anything for cranberry in the database. I'm fairly new at this...how can I go about finding what frequency they are on or if its a trunked system, how can I find that?

You'll want to check out the RadioReference Database

There is info for Butler County. There may not be direct entries for Cranberry. Cranberry may have their own frequencies that just haven't been added to the RR database. If Cranberry is switching to trunked, I'd be surprised. Don't know if they could justify the cost. Maybe they are able to get on the statewide TRS (which you cannot monitor). Or maybe they are on the Butler County frequencies listed in the DB. I'm not real familiar with that area, but its best to start by looking in your county for frequencies.

Maybe somebody from the TRAMAlist can chime in and add some info.

Cranberry Twp. is dispatched by Butler Co. on the new UHF system. Look for them on one of the police frequencies listed here:

Cranberry Twp is on 472.2375 PL 127.3. Units #42-, and #43-. Cranberry Fire And EMS is Dispatched on 472.0875 PL 103.5 Fire Station 21, EMS Station 51.

Butler County has gone to a UHF system, that is neither trunked or digigital. The Pro-97 will receive them quite well, at least mine does. They have just swithched to this system in the past 1-2 years, so I would think its unlikely they will be switching to a trunked system soon.

I'm not sure what the database has in it, but Butler uses :
472.2375 PL 127.3 - Police Ch. 1
471.500 PL 131.8 - Police Ch. 2


472.0875 PL 103.5 - Fire And EMS Dispatch
470.350 PL 107.2 - Fire Response 2
471.175 PL 110.9 - Fire Response 3
