Does Cranston PD have any new channels? Is there a channel 7? I am only aware of the 4 channels that are listed in the RR database.
As far as I know Cranston PD has 4 channels. I live in Cranston and hear them mostly on ch. 1 and 2 generally. Although it is possible they have capabilities to use other freqs. I noticed on the patrol cars they have a "quad" antenna setup. 4 quarter wave verticals set up in a square configuration. From close observation they appear to be cut for UHF which is the band the PD uses. I also did not see any other antennas on the vehicles. So my guess is they pretty much stay on their 4 channels.Does Cranston PD have any new channels? Is there a channel 7? I am only aware of the 4 channels that are listed in the RR database.
Ok I wondered what these antennas were for. Maybe the Cranston PD uses those low profile antennas but I will look next time a patrol car is around.4 antennas in a square configuration is for the LoJack vehicle recovery system. It has absolutely nothing to do with Cranston PD's UHF system since LoJack operates in the VHF spectrum.
Interesting- I have been listening to CPD for a long, long, time and was not aware of any use of encryption on any of their channels. F1,F2,F3 have always been in the clear to my knowledge. In order to hear F4 you need to be in close proximity to the units talking car to car.I’ve seen some usage of encryption on F3. Maybe that’s what they’re referring to. So far I’ve only noticed it once or twice.

I have TG1504 assigned to CPD in my RadioShack Scanners. I think they are 800mhz portables.TG1504 is NOT assigned to Cranston FD, it is assigned to CPD as it always has been. I also have no record of CPD using any encryption nor have I ever heard encrypted comms on their UHF system. CPD's RISCON TG's are a different story........

This is from RadioReference this morning:
Could somebody in the know clarify and correct in RadioReference if this is incorrect.

Have you ever heard any comms on TG1504? Anybody feel free to chime in.
110%'s a little harsh. One TG out of 200 would be about .5% wrong?RadioReference is 110% wrong. TG 1504 is Cranston PD Dispatch.....and always has been.
Would you be able to shed a little more light on the situation please. Have you ever heard any comms on TG1504 by CPD? Have you ever heard any comms on TG1504 by the CFD? Are you or were you involved in setting up the RISCON system?RadioReference is 110% wrong. TG 1504 is Cranston PD Dispatch.....and always has been.
Eh, not too harsh......lol110%'s a little harsh. One TG out of 200 would be about .5% wrong?
If the TG is wrong, it needs to be submitted as a ticket to be fixed.
Thanks.
