Crash coal truck fire Closes SR-10

A Coal truck That may have been driven by Savage trucking Company and a dump Truck Crashed Today On SR-10 Near the Hiawatha Junction. The coal truck burst into Flame trapping the occupant(s) for a time with severe burn injuries. Lifeflight was called out. People I have talked to advised me that it may have been fatal for one victim and the other was lifeflighted. All unconfirmed. SR-10 is Closed untile hazmat can clean it up. Hazmat From Salt Lake area is supposed to be coming to help clean it up as well. Price Wellington and Helper Fire units were all paged out to the scene as well as Hazmat and UDOT. PRICE, Utah (AP) -- A coal truck and a gravel truck collided in central Utah, sending both drivers to the hospital.

The Utah Highway Patrol says the coal truck was southbound Wednesday on State Route 10 when the gravel truck turned left off of State Route 122. The trucks collided, and the coal truck caught fire. The coal truck driver was pinned inside while the cab burned.

UHP says the coal truck driver had extensive burns and was flown to the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake City. The gravel truck driver had moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital in Price.

Names have not been released.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) -- The driver of a coal truck that collided with a gravel truck in central Utah has died.

Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Johnson says 53-year-old Arsenio Velasquez died Thursday morning at the University of Utah's Burn Center. He survived the night following the crash, but later succumbed to injuries sustained during the crash.

Velasquez was driving south Wednesday on State Route 10 when the gravel truck turned left off of State Route 122. The trucks collided, and the coal truck caught fire. Velasquez was pinned inside while the cab burned.

The gravel truck driver, Darwin Hunt, was treated for moderate injuries and released from a Price hospital.
