I get a lot of signals on it here in San Antonio. I've heard a pilot singing "Love Me Tender", and he wasn't too bad. Not Elvis, but not bad. Judging by how long I received it, I would guess he was a major air carrier pilot. Recently during the opening of the new Rehab Center for vets here in San Antonio, I got to hear the pilots of the charters talking at the airport while awaiting the return of the VIP's. They were very upset with the instructions they had been given for their taxi after the motorcade returned. All good stuff. They were worried about the way they were parked and how they could get out without hitting each other.

It's considered generally a talkaround frequency for pilots. You get some good chatter between aircraft that on high altitude sometimes talking to other pilots enroute elsewhere.

Almost like a Ch. 19 of the skies, only not as bad. A common meeting channel between pilots.

It's a good channel to have in a scanner if you like to listen to aircraft. I have it in all my scanners and always keep an ear on it, even when I'm not near an airport. You can hear pilots talking to each other from many miles away. Usually the conversations don't last that long This with raise some eyebrows. I live in Northern Bergen County,NJ (spitting distance from the NY border), one day I heard two pilots g-oing back and forth for close to an hour. Nothing too interesting, until they said their locations. One pilot was over Albany,NY and the other was flying over Atlantic City NJ. More than 300 miles apart and I could hear both of them like they were sitting right next to me!

A good antenna is always recommended. Altitude must also be high enough for line of sight communications.
