I doubt seriously that they have hopes of actually collecting any of that money.

They don't play , they will seize everything he owns including house, cars, radios and such and auction it off , they will also garnish his wages until its paid off .
NALS arent like a parking ticket in another state that you can skate on and leave unpaid, they can and will make your life miserable until its paid off , there was a case a number of years ago with an idiot who served jail time because his wages were garnished for NAL that caused him to be delinquent on his child support, the court didnt care that most of his income was garnished by the government ,the only time I have seen somebody "get away" with a NAL was because they had virtually no assests and died , you can delay action with appeals and such for only so long ,then they seize your life to get the money ,even if you are on disability states can't garnish that for debts or child support in most cases but the F.C.C certainly can and will. Actions can have consequences that are far reaching .

No. But they'll be sure to bury him regardless of what a jury thinks about his action. It's crazy that unelected bureaucrats have so much power in our country. Fines that high ought to scare every American into destroying all electronics in fear of interfering with a licensed radio station.

The FCC doesn't do all that much as far as enforcement goes, but, when they do, they go big.

That said, I hope a jury puts him away for awhile for his criminal acts in the State of New York. That's what our justice system is supposed to be about.

The latest ARRL letter mentions a similar situation where the person was caught and has been fined over $400,000.

Gents, let's try and keep this thread focused on the New York issue. If you want to discuss arming Auxiliary Officers and/or suing the government, please start a new thread.

Thanks.

It's the same case as this. They are one and the same. It's old news by the time it makes it into the ARRL newsletter. What I posted above is straight from the FCC Daily Digest on the day it was released.

This is the first case I've read about where the fine hit the statutory maximum of more than $400k. This story is far from over. We will probably see an update a few months from now. It takes a while for the whole process to play out so be patient.
