Does anyone have any details on the type of Motorola system CRESA is putting in? Is it P-25, or proprietary? The info link im800mhz posted is now gone, and CRESA has seemed to have swept any info on this new system under the rug.

mikepdx, FYI, I couldn't get the document to come up anywhere including right in Chrome. They all referenced back to here at RR, and that link does not function.

Bottom line, does it say anything more than Moto got the contract? Type of system (P25 P1 or P2 for example) I have seen no proposals go before voters now for years, and the last one was either rejected or never made it to the ballot. Anyway, I keep putting the question out there as to digital system type so I can be prepared, but no one either seems to know or answers.

Even thinking about digital is stupid. They've never eliminated all of the dead spots now with the 800 system. With all of the difficulties we hear about statewide with the new WSP system going digital, requiring so many extra sites and so forth, it seems like another Moto-boondoggle.

Thanks Nick. More than I found, but still no system type selection. I keep hearing digital rumors but think must be voted on by us first. I know they wont support smartzone much longer, but digital coverage crazy.

Of course it will be digital.
I doubt Mother Motorola makes new analog trunked systems.

They claim expected cutover in 2016.
Mobiles are being deployed this year.

I suppose that's true since they can give away their portables and mobiles and make the big bucks on all the new sites they need to have to get any coverage at all.

the Motorola mafioso made them an offer they can't refuse:

They had to make a quick decision to stay with M or lose out on the pricing.

CRESA will likely upgrade their system to be compatible with Portland, Wash. county. and Clackamas county. 700MHz digital with some encryption. There was some talk in the past of wanting a 4-county system. That is basically what they have now on 800MHz.

That's sorta what I had heard too abt existing, but was corrected that while they have roaming, they are not connected and three distinct systems with only the Clackamas and Washington Co systems the same system. He was emphatic about that in fact.

Yes, separate systems, but we can all talk to each other. In Portland our fire apparatus have most of the fire talk groups of the other 3 counties. In fact our Eng. 11 went to a fire in Clackamas at 23:05 last night on their OPS-25.
