Anybody ever use CrimeReports | The National Crime Map? It looks like several agencies in the metro area upload (limited) cad logs daily. It is pretty cool to pinpoint most of what you hear on the scanner. So far the following agencies in the metro area participate:

-Commerce City PD
-Douglas County SO
-Edgewater PD
-Greenwood Village PD
-Jefferson County SO
-Lakewood PD
-Littleton PD
-Parker PD
-Wheat Ridge PD

It is a fairly cool site, I still suggest subscribing to Mountain News Net as the Crime Report Maps are only updated once a day.

I knew Jeffco had this, but it's much nicer being able to look at a wider area... Thanks for sharing this.

Do any fire departments release this type of info as well? West Metro, to be specific?

Thanks

Are you referring to crime mapping done by (I think) the Omega Group? If so, then yes I am familiar with it. Lincoln Police in Nebraska, use it and have daily updates by email.

One thing I saw a few weeks ago, thats to a post on RR is an online system in Indy, that lists calls in real time. I don't think it is IPD hosting that site, but a media outlet, the newspaper I believe.

Crime mapping is a cool tool, and our chief of Police, Tom Casady is a huge user of GIS and crime mapping tools for a very long time. He's a pretty progressive Chief and uses technology to his advantage in crime reports, etc. He's also been invited to other Law Agencies around the corner to speak. demonstrate and train others in using crime mapping and other technology. ALRS (automatic license recognition system) just deployed here in a couple of cruisers, and it's hot, the cops love it.

Police work has certainly changed in the last decade with more tools available then ever. I'm pretty proud of the local department here, as the technology they use.

Happy Scanning
