I got a new BCD996P2 for Christmas. I'm in Crockett Co TN. Programed the scanner this weekend upgraded to NXDN. Enter the local frequencies. Enter the sheriff freq as a NX1 system. Picking up transmission from base to mobile but missing car to car transmission. Re entered the freq as a conventional NXDN same results. Any ideas?

That’s a headstumper. I use an SDS100 and BCD436HP so I’m not sure the difference between your scanner and mine when it comes to programming. I just got back from visiting my family near Bells, Tn over Christmas and heard both sides just fine. First , it’s not trunked so don’t program it as one. It needs to be programmed in as a conventional freq and def make sure the delay is at least 3 seconds for replies. Also if you can assign thr RAN code to it plug in RAN 1 as well.

I see your concerning car to car. Can you hear the cars reply back the dispatcher? There’s not much actual car to car talk in that county. And no channel devoted to it.

Yes I can hear the car respond to the dispatcher. I use to listen 20 years ago when it was analog. You would have traffic car to car. Sheriff talking to deputies. I haven’t heard any in 3 days. Just seems like I’m missing something.
Thanks for the reply.

I promise you you’re hearing all the comms on the dispatch frequency, 453.5875, I visit there often and have heard car to car as well as the local jurisdictions back and forth. There’s just not a lot of it nowadays. Prob done mostly by cell phone. Good hunting.
