So ya, have this nice new antenna that works AWESOME in the car, however, at the same time it now picks up the large amount of radiation my CRT's give off with even more strenght, anyone have any remedies to lighten this a bit (other then getting rid of the CRT's, lol) i have the CRT's plugged into special power bar designed to get rid of the noise in the line, but it only helps a bit, the CRT's completely screw up everything in the 130-160 range, even with the 250d or 796d squelch adjusted all the way closed, so ya, dont have any more ideas

Help is appreciated

EDIT: the antenna is about 6-8 feet away from the monitors, not many more options for getting the antenna farther away then that,

Usually the noise comes from the power supply itself, so there's unfortunately not a whole lot you can do... Except for the obvious, which is use an external antenna. Using an antenna on cable inside *may* allow you to null it out if you find the right spot, but it's not guaranteed.

You could always try some EMI reducing material, or wrap the monitor in a giant mesh panel, this would stop the EMI from interfering. Might make it a bit ham sexy though.

The antenna is an external antenna (hence why i mentioned it works great on the car). Its on a NMO mag mount about 8 ft from the monitors, it runs through a 12 ft Coax cable....doesnt matter where the scanner itself is, the antenna picks up the stupid monitor, second i turn the monitor off, voila, back to normal...tried attenuation as well, but to no avail, nothing

For some reason the wrapping a blistering hot monitor with mesh doesnt sound like a good plan, lol

1/8" mesh doesn't impede airflow very much, but it's a pretty dead short to 160 MHz radiation.
