Wondering if anyone can recommend any good frequencies to monitor while in port in Juneau, Sitka, or Ketchikan.

Especially interested in the public safety stuff... from checking out the RRDB it looks like most in AK is trunked P-25 and possibly even encrypted.

Thanks in advance!

You can look for a active ALMR site around Ketchikan area. I checked in 2009 didn't find anything. If you have a scanner that works with Pro96Com software. You can log the ALMR sites with it.

Sitka.
It's neat watching the airlines (Alaska Airline) land/depart from Sitka airportfrom the cruise ship and AirNav.com Sitka link

Okay, I've loaded up a bunch of freqs into the 346XT. Don't have a digital capable scanner, but hopefully I'll be able to verify some data.

What ship are you going be on ?

The '11 Service Searches' is always good to mess with.
Like before/after Sitka port or late at night wanting to see what is alive out there in FM bands :)
It's always fun to see what FM radio stations(88-108MHz) is like in Alaska...

Don't forget to scan the Marine channels such as Ch13,16,12 etc... Like doing before and after Juneau area. You hear them talking to other ships, fishing boats, watching out for fishing nets, etc...

It might be nice to write down what other ships you will see in each port.

Thanks for the responses! Unfortunately, I missed your Juneau freq. list, but had programmed in some stuff from the RRDB. We were cruising on Holland America. There was plenty to listen to while in port, especially the coordinated between the various shuttle buses and the shore excursion folks, as well as the marine bands.
