Anyone have a list of the state police alpha tags? I've picked up quite a few transmissions other than troops...swcom, etc...

Thanks, I've seen that. The alpha tags don't quite match what comes up on my pro96, but it is some help..

there are quite a few listed on that link. Most are correct.
What talkgroup ID is not there that you are looking for?

I figured it out, they're just listed a little differently on the scanner..but I think you're right, they are all there. Thanks again.

Don't forget some scanners can display "False" talkgroups.

The alpha tags (last I looked in the DB) are pretty correct for what is/was actually displayed on the radio's. Should be no more than 8 characters.

With the purchasing of the newer XTL and XTS radios, it may be expanded, but the talkgroups and purposes will be the same. The XTL2500/5000 can have 14 character zone AND channel names and the XTS's can up a total of 14 characters on the display (one line only). Typical config is a 3 character zone name (usual Z1 ) ((space after the "1" so there is a space inbetween the zone and channel name) with the rest being the channel.

The XTS can only do 12 characters. So the way the state sets them up is a 2 character zone a space then the normal 8 character name. The new mobiles are the same for now, the new mobiles & Portables are also being orderd with ADP encryption ($10 a radio) for "Future use"

My bad, I was thinking of the AS2/AS3 for some reason and should have fired mine up.

What is your source on this? Software ADP or UCM ADP? Seems kind of odd to order ADP since DES is already fielded in the SO commands...just a little less spending they would have to do on the KVL end of things. ADP itself was ~$296 per radio UCM and ~$255 for software. Definately NOT $10 per radio.
