csp cars

A question that is probably mostly suited for TROOP. Is CSP going to all slick top units? That is mostly what i have seen in the areas that i have travelled lately. Lot of states have done that, was just curious.

It means that they do not have light bars on top of the cars. The cars are fully marked, just do not have light bars.

When they first came out with slicktops a couple of years ago, each troop was allowed 1 and if they wanted to trade in a unmarked they could get another...Now I think each troop is allowed 3 or 4 w/o a trade for any other cars. I would love to see the state go 100% slick-tops. the new cars are coming out quicker since there's no lightbar prep, and slicktops are so effective, it's almost wrong!. I got my slicktop in June and wouldnt trade it for anything. We've got two in our troop

Thanks troop, i thought they looked pretty slick that way. I can imagine when you say they are effective, is referring to an almost unmarked unit. The lights that are in them are pretty bright, and actually look pretty cool, especially at nite.

It's about the same thing as a unmarked, as far as being a effective enforcement tool, I never thought the lack of overhead lights would be so stealthy, and I drove an unmarked for about 5 years. And yes those lights are bright!..almost too bright! all LED

hear in michigan lot of depts are using low profile light bars that look like ski racks from a distance and the msp use at times odd color cars not msp dark blue unmarked only state plates to look more like a normal car

Thats a nice looking paint job. Slicktops effective? Heck yea, unless you are really paying attention sailing down I-25 at 85 to 90mph Troop will probably pinch you before you know it!!!

I was just down in Albuquerque for a few days, and the PD down there is using the very low profile LED light bars. Not a "slick top" but so low profile, it might as well be. Damn things are bright, too.
