Has anyone using a 996XT to monitor the CSP, played around with the P25 adjustment level settings?
I would be interested in knowing what setting you have it set to. Default is 50. This has caused an error rate of 8-13. I have used 11 and 5 and still have not found a setting that will lower the error rate.

I have an older model 396T and they tried to fix that problem with the lastest firmware. Do you have an auto setting on that model? I find a lot has to do with the strength of the signal. It was determined at the time of testing that CSP P25 was not in aligned correctly. I cant think of technical wording sorry. Sometimes just moving the unit slightly helps. I never found a permanent fix.

The the sync from all the different sites in each zone is not nearly as good as it was prior to rebanding. As a result, the distortion is enough to kill the decoding in the scanners. Keep in mind that each frequency within a Zone may be different. I hear some Zone 9 channels much clearer than others.

There is no auto mode. You enter the numerical values and that is all. I really don't have a problem with signal strength. I am just trying to sort of tune it up a bit! Some channels were coming in digitized while clear on my 396xt sitting right next to it! The setting on the 396 was set at the default value of 50.

There is an auto mode. P25 Mode sets the max auto setting it will adjust to. To enter auto mode you will have to go into volume or squelch adjust and press function + select.

Ok, maybe I am missing something but I dont see a setting on the menu to adjust volume or squelch!
Could you be a little more specific?

I'm sorry, I was giving you instructions for the 396XT. Here are the instuctions for the 996XT straight from the wiki, "To view the decode screen with the 996XT, press the scroll control then*Vol." The P25 adjust mode setting only sets the max auto decode threshold if you have the latest firmware installed by the way.

I would suggest that you find the nearest site to where you live and just have that one ,other wise you get what you are getting that motorboat type of decoding. I have the bcd996xt and have no problems with listening to Troop D site with standard settings.
