Has anyone else been having a problem with CSP. Just recently over the past few weeks I have been picking up an open analog carrier. This has been picked up in both id search and scan mode. It seems to happen around bridgeport and waterbury area. The troop is random sometimes it comes up with A,B,G but basicly it sounds like an open analog carrier there is no data or voice noise. But it is just getting rather agravating having to listen to it. It does seem to go away as soon as the troop that is locked open transmits digital voice. So just looking for some insite or if anyone else is having a similar issue.

I was in the Waterbury area Tuesday morning and experienced a bunch of those open carriers. It was happening every few minutes for a while. Man is it aggravating. This hasn't happened to me in any other area in CT, I was in the Norwalk area last week and all seemed well.

I did notice that after the open carrier, the corresponding talkgroup would start to communicate. Ex. I'd get an open carrier identified as Troop B. I'd turn the selector knob to continue scanning. The next modulated signal would be Troop B. I'm not sure if this is just a coincidence as I can't always pay attention to my scanner.

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this problem too.

OK like I had said before it really sucks and is so anoying but I am glad in the sence that I know my radio is not messed up and the programming is still the same. I am not too sure what upman is talking about in the uniden thread about a digital end carrier but I wounder if this would help.

would you please walk me through the steps for the temp monitor mode (pl drop). I am still not too sure on it. Thanks

I wish I could help ems170. I've only had my scanner for a couple months and I don't know how to use a lot of the advanced features yet.

I'm pretty sure that since csp is digital it does not use pl tones, but I may be wrong. I just wanted to let you know you were not the only one experiencing the open carrier. Best of luck :)

Thanks for the help bill. I was wondering about the pl tones as a sidebar thing. Lots of questions and configurations kind of blend together after a while. CSP does not use PL they use P25 modulation but just wondering about the pl thing for analog conventional. But thank you

Anyone with info and necessary steps for dropping the pl on a ch temporarily sound off.
