The Colorado Springs Police Department received the report of a suspicious vehicle at 1887 S. Academy Blvd. When police officers arrived on the scene they were able to see the suspect vehicle. The vehicle had at least three (3) male suspects in the vehicle. Occupants of the suspect vehicle opened fire on the officers and fled from the scene in the white sedan.

Near the intersection of Astrozon and Jetwing additional shots were exchanged between the suspects and the officers. The vehicular pursuit continued to the area of Constitution Dr. and Powers Blvd. where officers again fired shots at the suspects. The suspect vehicle then traveled westbound on Constitution Dr. Near the intersection of Constitution Dr. and Lantana Dr. a police vehicle made contact with the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle then left the south side of the roadway and went through a wooden privacy fence and a chain link fence, it then continued into the backyard of a private residence, where it rolled over.

Two suspects were then taken into custody at that location. A third suspect fled on foot. When checking the area officers located the third suspect who attempted to run from the officer on foot; however, was taken into custody.

One suspect received non life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.

No police officers or citizens received injuries.

Major Crimes Detectives, in conjunction with the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, is conducting the investigation in this case.
