I'm going to be driving from I-90 out of MA then up I-87 almost to Canada. Looking at the map, I'll be driving through troops K, G and B coverage. I'm only interested in listening the state police or sheriffs that would cover my route on the highway. I don't see a similar statewide trunked system like CT and MA have. Should I be trying to add county systems along the route? Are the NYSP using the VHF frequencies as conventional channels? I'm just looking for a little guidance as to what to scan. Thanks.

You’ll also be on the NYS Thruway system for a little while, so you’ll be in Troop T coverage as well. The NYS Thruway system is currently on conventional UHF frequencies.

State Police do operate on their VHF frequencies. They also operate on many county wide systems both analog and digital trunking.

Thank you both.
