Well things are much better on my BCD536HP and SDS200 as far as trooper dispatch. I receive Troop C, D, E, and K dispatch but I do not hear Car/Car .

I was in Manchester today near Rt 83 closer to 84 than 384 and was able to pick up the troop H simulcast most of the time but hit several dead spots. I was able to get the Troop C Simulcast on 91 until I crossed the other side of the CT river and never really got it back reliably. I forgot to unlock the Troop K simulcast to check it.

The C Simulcast has a site on Bald Hill Rd in Tolland and IIRC the old Moto SZ had a site in Manchester (WQYN538). I would think you should be able to hear one of those.

The Car to Car TG's don't get utilized that much. Its basically a "channel 2" for each of the troops. Most of the time its used for when the troopers need to pass on info so they are not on the main troop TG.

FYI Troop L Car to Car is used a good deal. Not as often as Dispatch by far, but most of the towns with CSP Trooper Programs, like Woodbury, use it a good often to talk to other town units.

Woodbury has their own P25 Simplex (Yes.. Simplex.. not repeater based) radios, but because of Simplex, coverage is crap so they use their CSP radios to talk to each other on Car/Car. About 2/3 of the traffic is official business, the rest of "I'm at the deli, want me to pick you up something?" type calls.

OK listen up...
Simulcast - Tolland County. There are 4 sites ALL on the same frequency on air all at the same time (Simulcast).
Other transmitting locations do the same thing.
Use Radioreference database sites then click on Licenses you'll see the list of sites and frequencies for the Simulcast sites.
I've been beating my head trying to figure out why my BCD996P2 wouldn't work on CSERM 700 MHz. Worked fine on 800 MHz.
All that reading made my head hurt... My SDS200 always worked fine on CSERM since it was turned on for CSP.

I purchased one of those 700 - 900 MHz dipole antennas and indoors pointed it at Soapstone (Closest site) out my front window. Got 3 to 4 bars signal strength. The strength on 996P2 reads around 130 to 150. A 400 strength would be a normal high reading on an outdoor antenna.

My Uniden 996P2 now works perfectly on CSERN CSP, no more cutting out.

I'll get the dipole mounted outdoors in the next few days.

What is your location relative to the transmitter? Someone said the new system uses directional antennas which means that if you're outside the simulcast zone you wish to tune, you may be SOL no matter what you do.

I'm in Stafford Springs on a hill in a hole. I have 1000 ft mountains East and West of me. Soapstone is closest site about 2 miles the way the crow flies. Last known info I have is Soapstone had Omni dual 700/800 MHz antennas. Limited Rf space on Soapstone.
Excerpt from sources...
xxx sent a pix of Soapstone Mt and there was a new blue colored dual feed antenna on the south side of the tower.
I'm trying to locate the picture.
I've spent many hours a day trying every setting in the Radio to no avail, nothing but broken audio.
The minute I hooked up the dipole I've been receiving 100% 700 CSP.

Pictures of Soapstone Mt. Tower.
Pictures are to large to post.
I'll try to reduce size, sure are great pictures.

for a while they had the new system patched on the console with the old system, however now it appears they have completely transitioned and no longer keep the channels patched. Anyone without phase 2 capability cant monitor anymore

CSP talk groups are phase 1, so even if you have an older scanner you can still monitor it. The local PDs that are joining the system use or will likely use phase 2 (like Groton PD) so you wouldn't be able to listen to those without a newer scanner.
