CT Trunk Help Please

I am looking for the complete freqs for West Hartford, New Britian, and Bristol. I am also unsure of the specific system they are on so if you have that it would help. I have all these towns programmed in on my BC296D but I am hearing nothing so I suspect I am missing a freq or they are in the wrong order or or or??? Any help appreciated.

I spent a lot of time in there and plugged all the codes in but no luck with hearing a thing. If I code them as conventional then I hear 2-way. I am using Scancat for recording/loading to the BC296D. I will admit when I have to choose Type II I have a few additional choices e.g. Type II - (800, 900, UHF, VHF). I chosen several and still here nothing. Three towns i am adjacent to that I have tried to trunk are Bristol, New Britain, and WHartford. WHartford I can listen to on convention status but not on trunking scan status. I am sure I am doing something wrong.

First off, make sure you have the bank you are programming turned ON for trunking. Let's start slow and I'm only saying this once :lol: For West Hartford, as an example, it is a Type II system in the 800 Mhz range. So the trunk type is Type II 800. After you program the frequencies in, program in the talk groups of the system you want to listen to (those are the numbers under DEC column of systems listed in the RR databse). Consult your manuals for detailed information.

I needed a smile this morning after so many dead-ends on this radio. Ah, well I think I have done everything you said except I am going back and research turning on the bank for Trunking. That maybe a step I have not done because I thought trunking was associated to Freq not the bank.

I have not yet progressed to talk groups. I need to get to the red zone first and then watch out. Ah!!

Now for a more serious cockpit question (before I crash). Do you keep all trunking freq consolidated to a bank(s)? Or do you have some conv freq intermixed? I know, another dumb question answered in the modern day manual put out by Uniden. I like to do a local police bank, and then a CT bank etc.

I assume Bristol is same Type II 800.

You may of solved my problem. I will verify and report back.

Phew *wiping brow* OK...first off, talk groups are the key to a trunk system...no talk groups, no hear anything. You can have conventional and trunked frequencies in the same bank. But only put one trunked system into a bank...i.e. Bristol into bank 1, W.Hartford into bank 2 and so on.....click the lick below for the Bristol system.

Well, I am at the point of forgetting the trunking process. At least as it relates to programming BC296D with the Scancat software. The manual is just not helpful. Too bad there were not enough exhibit examples.

I have my Bank 5 dedicated for Trunking now. Bank is turned on for Trunking - at least the process was completed. WHtfd and Bristol are programmed with Type II-800, and New Britain has Type I - I didnt know the additional ID data required in TYPE I (program asks for different terms than what is listed in RR Database). I am trying to figure out how to program Talk Groups. That is not obvious because the Terms or data definitions are not consistent.

I will make one more effort before I go back to pure conventional scanning. And yes I admit to being helpless. I can handle the ARRL/FCC exams but this is nuts.

Good software will go a long way to getting the scanner programmed. Also:
-You need a separate bank for each trunk system.
-You need to enter them in as trunked channels.
-You need to set each bank for the type of trunking.
-For EDACS systems the frequencies MUST be in the exact order as posted on the database.
- you must enter in some talkgroups or after you hit scan, hit search to search for any/all T/G.
- For CT SP, you must have a digital scannel.
- Bristol PD has gone encrypted, you cannot copy their traffic.

i know they are in the database just wondering if whtfd pd and fd hvae change any of there control channels because of the rebanding thanks
