Is CTCSS or DCS also consider tone? If not how do I enter a tone? example 154.355 & tone 77.0 PL or how do I us PL? I have not used this before.

To keep it simple all 3 are "tones" or "tone codes"

Depending on your scanner, you'll have a set table of "tones" available to use.
DCS is fairly new to the scanner market, but CTCSS is widely available to modern scanners. Upper end scanners have DCS and CTCSS available.

how do I us PL? I have not used this before.

It depends on your scanner. Not all scanners have the ability. Provide the scanner make/model and we can help.

I was looking in the manual and I wasn't sure. I know how to program them and everything. Just wasn't sure if it was the same as tone. I have always seen the tone on the database and just never thought about trying to use them. Thanks for your help.
