Culpeper Co TRS

I am in the process of programming my new Bearcat 796D. I am wondering if the Culpeper trunked system is up and running yet? If it is still testing, is the control channel on all or some of the time? I heard that the FD is being simulcast prior to switch over.

And finally, for those outside Culpeper County, does anyone how far the signal might carry. I am Winchester, or about 40 miles from the nearest transmitter.

(I can pick up Loudoun Co from 50 miles of it's transmitter. Although the FCC site only 1 transmitter, the Loudoun Co page on RR shows 8 sites. And I know about 6 are scheduled when they reband.)

From what I can tell here in Fauquier Co. the system has been operating for several weeks. I’ve heard that the portable units haven’t been distributed yet, so it will be a while before it’s fully functional. The control channel seems to be on all the time.
They have been repeating the F.D., Sheriff’s office and Town of Culpeper lately.

Reception seems to be dictated by direction as much as distance at this point, there’s likely plenty of work yet to be done.

I can pick up both Fauquier and Culpepper here in Fredericksburg.
