Curious why police aren't included...

So I've been downloading the information from the database into my Win97 and it's been really easy and awesome to do. However, I noticed that police feeds aren't included in the database download. Rather, the police are listed on the page (at Fayette County, Kentucky (KY) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference ) so I can still enter all the numbers manually.

I was just curious if there was a reason that the police feeds aren't included in the download to my scanner programming software.

I'm a noob, so I hope I'm describing this correctly :)

Thanks!
Dan

Welcome aboard and heres the simple answer... The data that you dl to your scanner from the database here is the frequencies, tones etc that your scanner needs to recieve the radio systems. The live feeds are rebroadcasts from someone elses scanner over the internet and are audio transmissions. The live audio would do your scanner no good. With the database information you load in the scanner, you will be able to hear what is happening live.

Hope this helped. :)

You may need to provide specific examples of what is not included. There are police listed on the page you linked: Fayette County, so I am guessing that what you are calling the police is Lexington Public Safety TRS Trunking System This is a trunking system, and all trunking systems are accessed separately from conventional. You can go in and automatically download everything, including police, on this page (without erasing the trunked radio data you downloaded): Fayette County but you have to log in and specify "conventional" systems to gain access to these.

If this doesn't help, please give a specific example of what IS being downloaded as police, and what is not.

Edit: I assumed he was not REALLY talking about live feeds, since he said he could enter them manually.

However, they don't seem to be listed in the downloadable database. I have the Win97 software and I am a Premium member. When I use Win97 to find frequencies, I don't see the police listings. I see tons of others (regular, trunked, etc.), but I don't see the police frequencies.

Since they're listed on the Fayette county page, I was able to enter them all by hand.

And no, my question has nothing to do with the online streaming for various cities (which is a cool feature, btw).

OK I get it now... to DL the TRS you must choose import trunked frequencies ...
TRS and conventional import separately. I thought he WAS refferring to the actual live feeds importing to an scanner lol...

There are drop down lists for the agencies in each county in each state....
In Win97 you select import conventional
Select KY
select county
then there is a listing for EACH level of organization.... County, city etc...
Click on the + to open the list fully
Then select each you want

OK, I stand corrected on everything I said haha. Apparently I'm more of a noob than I thought. I looked and looked and didn't find what I was looking for...........until just a second ago.

Sorry for the confusion, but thanks for the answers :)

Hi Brandenburg, welcome to rr.com.... you had me a little concerned for a few entries, I thought there was something amiss with the Fayette Co. page.... Glad you got the help you needed to get going..... One thing you might consider, depending upon how much you have in your scanner, is to add a bank with the VHF freqs attenuated as well.... some places in Fayette County are very noisy (a lot of RF from many sources) and the GRE scanners have a sensitive front end making it difficult to receive sometimes....

Except when we were noob's a long time ago we did not have the internet to help us out so noobs today are not noobs for as long as we were.
