I haul dumpster's and I found a Cushcraft pc8910n Yagi .
I would like to use this Antenna for my Scanner I was told a Yagi may help on my Statewide System - MPSCS Simulicast .
Now the coax is only about 6 inch long and had the connector missing and one of the elements are missing .Could I still use this and would it work well ? Should I just put a end connector then run coax ?

Well put some coax on it and give it a try,you never know if it will work or not unless you try it.

Well if it is going to be that short,get some good RG-8 or RG-6 coax.

Nope i am thinking he is worried about 800mhz REBANDING.Now to the matter at hand i looked at the specs on the model number you gave and it looks to me that it is a 900mhz antenna and the system you want to monitor is 800mhz will the antenna work maybe maybe not.Their are a bunch of guys on here that can give a more technical breakdown on if it can or if it will work.

In theory, that would require lengthening the elements and changing the element spacing. Simple calculations will show that the actual dimensions involved would be very small. Since the OP proposes to use it in a receive-only situation, it might be interesting to just find out how it will do in its current condition by hooking it up, pointing it toward a known site, and locking the scanner on a known control channel to see if it detects a signal.
