Anyone else have issues when setting custom colors on the SDS100 display? I changed the system to be blue text. However, after these changes, the middle section on the screen (dept) disappears while scanning. It's like the text is black on black, so it's invisible. I can only see it if I press the dept hold softkey. If I reset the colors to default, I don't see this issue. Under the settings, text is set to orange for all views for dept, so not sure what's going on.

They're not the same, though. Text is orange, background is black, but the text disappears as it's scanning. If I hold the dept, I can see it again.

Here's a quick video. See how when it starts scanning, the middle text section goes blank? Is that normal? I don't think it was doing that before I changed the colors, but maybe it was and I'm just imagining things...

I agree with @nessnet. You have to keep playing with it but It looks like you're holding on the system name but anyway, try doing it on the radio itself using display option, it is tedious and you need to hook up to Sentinel and transfer your card first thing when you get it right then transfer the card back to the radio so as to make it a permanent change.

Unfortunately I don't have a recent photo but this is from last May when I was just using white on black background for mobile use at 100% brightness. I decided I wanted green text but when I tried the greens they were dull and didn't stand out but then I discovered lime, so imagine this screen with a black background and instead of white text, bright green text. I didn't have much luck with blue background or text. Lime is very nice as text on black.
Keep at it, you'll get it.

So, it looks like it does this on the default color scheme, too. For some reason, I thought it always showed the dept info while scanning, but that doesn't appear to be the case. The weird thing is, sometimes it will show the dept info, sometimes it won't. Not sure why.

It doesn’t scan departments, it scans sites looking for active grants. And department isn’t even a thing on the system it is just a method of organizing channels on the scanner.

So the corresponding department shows when voice is active on a channel.
