I'm hearing TriCom fire tones - but no voice dispatch coming over on the listed 11021 fire talk group. It is occurring with regular fire calls on 158.235.

Yes, I've heard those Tones only for weeks now while analog fire is still there. Been listening from my brother's place in Elgin/East when I go there on weekends with my G5. Guess we'll see this week if FIRE can be heard if it changes

I would have thought that if they were making the move, the UHF frequencies and Starcom TG's would be simulcasted for a while. I've been watching for blips of encrypted TG's on the Kane site just in case they will be the big "E" but nothing beyond the normal (like Elgin PD).

I'm getting quite a lot of encrypted hits on 11021 & 11022 this morning. Not a good sign.

Tri-Com UHF PD frequencies have gone silent this morning. Activity is consistent on StarCom 11021 & 11022, P2 encrypted. My guess is that all comms have been moved over.

I had heard when this project was getting started that the police were leaving the dispatch open for fire to listen. Guess they changed their mind. VHF remains available on the fire side to provide interoperability for agencies that are not on Starcom. Unknown if fire is on Starcom yet. (edited to clarify the fire side)

The trend when fire departments have switched to Starcom is to keep the legacy VHF patched for toneouts to use existing pagers and for interop with departments that still use VHF radios.

I've been told by another listener that, according to RIDs he's observed, South Elgin PD dispatch has switched from TG 11001 (in the clear) to TG 11022 (encrypted). My guess is, unless other encrypted talkgroups in the 110xx range are popping up, that Batavia, Elburn, Geneva and St. Charles PDs are all dispatched on TG 11021. Is anyone keeping track of RIDs that are active on this TG?

Great, more agencies going to the dark, FANTASTIC. With my little rant aside, is Sugar Grove PD also on SC21?

Tricom FD dispatch appears to now be full time on Starcom. Both 11044 & 11045 are active. I’m not hearing anything on the VHF repeaters any longer.
Phase 2, not encrypted.

TriCom FD can be heard on Site 101 (DuPage) & Site 126 (Kane) - for the time being.

I would guess FIRE is not encyrypted and POLICE is ?
