I had the opprotunity to visit D.C. for the Orioles game today. I took along my 396 and to my astonishment I couldn't pick up anything from D.C. What could be the problem?? Can someone help me verify that the frequencies are correct????? Is fire, EMS and police all under the same system???

This belongs in the DC forum, but yes, they are all in the same system - but it needs a special offset setup, and much of it is digital. If you used the RRDB, and used the offsets, you should have been fine. AFAIK there's a couple of recently-added channels, and some notes in the DC forum about the required offsets 73s Mike

Hi patrolman,

It's all the same "system," but you'll actually need to program two systems into the 396 to hear police and fire. MPD uses a 460 MHz system, and DC Fire uses an 850 MHz system. The two systems are linked, so occasionally you'll see an MPD talkgroup on the Fire system, and vice-versa.
