What is the difference between a Logic Channel Number vs a Logic Slot Number?
The Logic Channel Number, LCN, is used to designate the frequency to be used for a specific transmission. For Uniden scanners, the site frequencies need to have their corresponding LCN's for the scanner to tract the system properly. The Logic Slot Number, AFAIK, is used by the system to designate the slot being used. It is noy needed in the scanner, as there is no provision for it. The Object Oriented scanners from GRE & Whistler do not use either of these. They do nit trunk track the system, instead focusing soley on the talkgroup identified during reception.

So does it matter if you program a DMR TRS into a Whistler scanner as a TRS if it is listed as a TRS or can you program a DMR TRS as a Conventional system since Whistler scanners do not trunk track DMR. Funny, Uniden trunk tracked LTR and now they trunk track DMR which seems to replacing LTR while Whistler is following the PRO 106 route, not trunk tracking LTR and now not trunk tracking DMR.

If it is shown as a trunked system in the database, then you should program it as such, not as conventional. That would be the same for NXDN systems as well.

If you have a busy DMR system, with a number of heavy users, the Uniden's ability to trunk track the system is a noticeable advantage over Whistler. But if it is a lightly loaded, lightly used, system, then the Whistler scanners might be satisfactory to you.
