Hey all, I have been interested in radios, specifically CBs for a while.
I plan to participate in a few road rally's, drives, and road trips across California in the future, and would like to be able to listen to the CHP as well as local law enforcement (but mostly CHP). Airplanes as well as cars.
I've been reading a lot about how the antenna is the key to do this.
I have a few questions:
1. Can I get a magnetic (or other non-permanent) mount for it? Don't feel like drilling holes in my roof.
2. I have talked to truckers who say that in order to get maximum range, you need to "hack" the CB, to up the wattage. Is that true?
3. Is there a go-to guide for listening to CHP?
4. Is there a preferred radio for the above?
