How come Dallas Fire Rescue only sends Engines on certain calls?

I've seen a lot of Engines or Trucks being assigned to Breathing Difficulty or Chest Pain calls...but never medical emergencies.

How does it work? What type of calls does an Engine or Truck go on?

Thanks

A medical emergency is a generic call for DFD. it could be someone complaining of a headache, or stomach pain etc. basically anything that doesnt meet the criteria of biotel as being a high priority call eg. chest pain, allergic reaction, bleeding etc. even though locution says medical emergency, the comments on the MDC actually tell what kind of medical emergency it is.

Basically an engine or truck response is based on the fact that a member of the engine or truck crew might ride in on the rescue to the hospital...
