Forgive this question, I will be in Dallas this coming weekend, I want to make sure I got the correct system programmed to list to DFD/DPD only.

I need this one and just layer 1, correct?
On the Dallas side, I would include both Dallas Layer 1 & Dallas Layer 2.

The plan, supposedly, is for Dallas Public Safety to use Layer 1, with the county, city services, and smaller municipalities on layer 2. But I'm still seeing a significant number of Dallas Public Safety talkgroups using Layer 2 in my logs. I would program both sites (Layer ! as well as Layer 2).

I am also still seeing quite a lot of activity, for both DFR as well as Dallas PD, on their conventional channels,

Thank you, sir!

He will be fine with Layer 1. It has a larger foot print and all of the public safety agencies are on it. DPD/DFR, Lancaster, SWR (Duncanville, DeSoto, Cedar HIll) Dallas Sheriff and Constables.

In theory, yes.

But, as I noted, I am still seeing a significant number of public safety talkgroups showing up on Layer 2, both in my logs and recordings.

Listening to broadcastify all I hear on DPD ch 3 , 4 , 7. And DPD ch 1, and 2 is key ups with no one talking and lot's of noise
95% of the time DPD 2 is key ups with no voice> I'm in North Dallas every Tuesday and have heard some voice traffic on DPD-2. Shooting calls where 531 was relaying the call details and maybe one or two units key'd "received" Maybe Supervisors still carry UHF access I dunno.

Also, in reference to Layer-1, I've added the 6 Channels from the older Dallas P25/NCTCOG system and while the sites NAC's are different have not experienced any loss of communications. Steve brought up a good question a while back wondering if the 6 channel would eventually merge into the current system, So I added those to see. The problem is I'm not in Dallas enough to see if those are working or not. As I said, when I am in having them hasn't hurt anything so maybe add those to layer 1 and see for yourselves.

Well this is a real interesting document. Users with access to NTIRN. Not sure how or why Grayson Co. got in there unless for the DNT Extension. Might also explain where VHF/UHF federal disappeared to in N. Texas. Pages 2-3.

Document has been around for as long as Fort Worth has had their P25 system and updated several times. Keep in mind it is an Interop Document that shows who is allowed to use the system for Interop purposes. As someone who uses Unitrunker on the system regularly, I can tell you the State and Federal users are on the system, but it is not their primary means of communication, with no dedicated talkgroups on the system. They will pop up on the Interop and encrypted talkgroups as part of a task force. One needs to look for RIDs in the 5 million range.

Good to know, thanks!

Anyone know why Cresson VFD is listed as a primary user? I’ve never heard them dispatched on Johnson county site or by TCFA. Last I heard, they were supposed to be on GRRN full time when that’s online?

I believe they have a talk group, 7508 on the Johnson Co site.

@hiegtx Thank you for the advice, I getting just as much DPD chatter on Layer 1 as I do on Layer 2, and I've been all over the metro today.

To add to what Ben wrote, Cresson responds to some calls in Johnson County and communicates on JC ESD channels.

As Linn noted, it is a simulcast site.
Depending on where you are in Ennis, there's a chance that you might be close enough to the site just southeast of Ennis, that you might not have a problem.

However, my TRX-1 is about the worst scanner that I own in regards to dealing with Simulcast. YMMV

I found a "new" site:
3-50
NAC 440
WRMF220
Terrell (DWU Tawakoni Balancing Reservoir)

769.61875 CC
Not showing alt CCs or neighbors.

I'm trying to find the Lake Tawakoni site. I'm hearing intermittent weak signals on 769.36875 & 770.09375 but too weak to decode. Can't tell if its a P25 CC and being wiped out by what appears to be voice channels from other systems.
