Danville, VA ties in to NCHP Viper System

Tonight the Danville, VA city council agreed to spend $64,700 to establish a microwave communications link between the City of Danville Virginia and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol's Viper Radio System. This cross-state-lines communications link is funded by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

My info is that the NC side is already in place and ready to go as it was installed with all the other infrastructure at the new VIPER site in Caswell, but I'll confirm that sometime this AM (Wed).

Yes and no

There are analog and digital talkgroups, seems almost every new non-state talkgroup is digital though.

J/K, folks. A few talkgroups are encrypted but so far not many, and no info on how many might/will be.





VA to NC link update: the Danville site to Yanceyville site microwave link itself between the two is all that's not in place at this time on the NC side, but the rest of it essentially is. No info on how much will have to be done on the VA side.
