While listening to both this system and the AIRS system, I've realized that the 1176 TG is not simulcasting BCSO anymore, but instead simulcasting AIRS TG 23402, Summerdale PD channel 1. I'm thinking this has been going on a while — BCSO traffic was always 100% encrypted but starting last month I started hearing the occasional bits of traffic in the clear. Can anyone else confirm this? I'm not sure if it's on purpose or a screw up somewhere.

For whatever reason, TG 1176 is still partially encrypted but the transmissions always match activity from Summerdale on AIRS.

Monitoring this network can be a bit of a challenge since I don't have a trunk-tracking scanner, but also because one of the Robertsdale site frequencies is used by the Okaloosa SO in analog and it booms in here some days. One of the Foley site frequencies is shared with Crestview, and their DMR also comes through albeit encrypted.

NXDN TG 1176 is still listed as a BCSO patch to Summerdale when being dispatched by "Central" (Baldwin Central). You are correct that you are hearing the same traffic on AIRS TG 23402 (Summerdale PD 1) as on NXDN TG 1176. I'm not quite certain why this patch is in place since Summerdale PD and BCSO operate exclusively on AIRS.

You are also correct that occasionally on BCSO TG 20001 (Baldwin SO 1) the units are fully encrypted but the dispatcher is in the clear. This does not appear to be a full time set up like Foley PD (dispatch - clear, units - encrypted) but rather some type of anomaly.

Yeah, the encryption choices on 20001 are a head scratcher. I have also (very rarely) heard units in the clear as well, but there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

I was under the impression the NXDN 1176 TG had always been BCSO, so not sure why it was switched. With Foley being a little island with their own network, though, seems like it would be smart to put both BCSO and Summerdale on the NXDN for interoperability.
