I'm monitoring the system with Pro96 and the following system frequencies are coming up as alternate control channels and primary control channels.
c 859.9875
ac 859.4375
ac 858.9875
ac 858.4375

I've also captured a handful of currently unidentified talk groups, but will need to listen to voice calls to try to figure out who they are.

A storm is about to come through, so I'll see if I can clean up on some of these. Control channel decode and P25 voice quality are both top notch from Waves.

How did the system stand up to Irene? There were lots of concerns that the winds would knock the microwave antennas out of position and drop sites (both Hatteras Island sites are connected to the system thru a single microwave path). Just curious.

It actually did quite well. The only mic dish that got turned was a VIPER dish on top of a water tower.

For the sake of not starting a new thread unnecessarily, I'm going to start back up this old thread. I'm monitoring from Salvo this week. Seems the multi-path/LSM issue has gotten worse. I left Pro96 running today while I was out on the beach, and picked up some unknown TGIDs. I had to take the antenna OFF the scanner, and put it in the window facing the Rodanthe tower to get it to even lock onto the control channel -- I'm assuming because of the horrible multi-path from Buxton, Bodie, and East lake.

The unid talk groups are 14825, 14826, and 14827. They sounded like buses calling in -- not sure if school or transit.

Also got 14602 which sounded like EMS tactical, and 14650 which was Buxton FD 44 tactical.

Will run Pro69 all week while I'm away.

Also, the paging VHF channel sounds AWFUL. The volume for the pager tones is solid, but dispatched voice is almost silent (have to turn the radio volume to full to even make out what is being said).

The VHF paging is narrowband, this explains the lousy sound. Make sure the scanner is set as such. Also, make sure it's at 155.7375.

If you are at Salvo, there is a tower at station 50, behind the waterfall park. Just look for the blue/green vertical. You may be catching artifact from the new Stumpy Point tower just across the sound.

Alright, I just bought a new BCD996XT and sever to put three new Dare County feeds online. While I'm very proficient with electronics, this simulcast system is slightly unnerving and even with the new firmware, I'm still worried my Uniden is going to have trouble picking out a tower with the stock antenna. Is there any way I can lock on to a specific tower? (the scanners will be located in Wanchese). Also, I downloaded the RR data to my ARCXT software, and in the frequencies I only see the control frequency listed. Is that fine or will I need to manually enter in the other frequencies as well?

The three feeds I will have are :

P25 Dare County Fire/EMS (Upgrade to the current paging feed, I may possibly add sheriff/police at a later date)
KIG77 NOAA radio Cape Hatteras
Air Force/Navy Dare bombing range, Dare Co. Airport, and Marine VHF Ch. 16

One other question, are there any talkgroups not listed on the Dare Country page I need to be of interest in? What are the VIPER talkgroups for interop?

Since it's a simulcast system, it is impossible to lock onto a specific site with the stock antenna, since it's omni-directional. A yagi antenna pointed at the closest site would be your best bet for your 800 feed.

There are a few additional talkgroups that have been submitted to the queue, I believe they're all fire tacs. I'll knock them out when I get out of class later.

Thanks for setting up the feeds!

Jsncrso, I can help you with that stuff. I live in KDH, so it would be nothing to come by, and help you with that stuff.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to try the stock antenna first and see how it goes. If it's bad enough I'll order a yagi and mount it on the roof. I'll check the database later and see if anything is updated. KX4KDH, if I have any issues I will definitely take you up on that offer.

Also, I found out my PRO-94 isn't compatible with UHF aircraft frequencies (which I was almost positive it was); does anyone know of a old, dirt cheap scanner I can snag off ebay which will support the 300MHz range? I'm already over-budget as it is lol.

Full 800MHz P-25 feed is online and working great! I have had no issues of garbled audio and programming took all of 60 seconds. I haven't set up my new server (and probably wont until next week) so there are no alpha tags broadcast yet nor are any other feeds up.

KX4KDH, I will gladly take you up on your offer. I have had multiple requests for the bombing range and ch. 16 feeds so it will be appreciated by more than just me. I will PM you sometime this weekend after I get everything set up and ready for additional feeds

Thanks for undertaking the feeds.

Keep in mind that RR doesn't allow feeds of NOAA broadcasts. You will need to put that feed up on Wunderground, or another feed provider that doesn't have the restriction.

I'm aware you can only broadcast the NOAA feeds on wunderground, however due to low interest I might not add it at all and just add law enforcement to Dare's feed but we will see. How much traffic is on the bombing range and VHF 16 frequencies? Also, I'm definitely missing some talk groups. My friend who is a fire captain is going to give me a list of all the talk groups programmed into his county issued portable. My question is, do I just need the talk groups or do I need any other information to add those groups into my scanner?

Thanks for the compliments. There may be some more downtime in the next few days as I get more talkgroups installed and the new server set up to support alpha tags, but after that it should be smooth sailing 24/7 on out.
