Thanks to KLO5078anda few other submitters I have
been able this evening to update the Dare System to the latest and greatest
TG info. Before I nuke the old VHF Conventional stuff and replace
it with the new narrowband dispatch freq let me clarify some stuff:
1) The old 155.925 (North Disp) and 155.775 (South Disp) frequencies
are no longer used at all correct?
2) The above frequencies have been replaced with the 155.7375Mhz
Narrowband Freq correct? And this frequency carries dispatcher only
traffic. Do we have an accurate confirmed CTCSS/PL Tone for 155.7375Mhz?
3) What about the old UHF FD Remote link Freqs? Can we nuke those?
4) Old EMS 155.280Mhz Dispatch Freq: Nuke it? No Longer Used?
5) Old UHF Sheriff Freqs: Nuke those?
I am pretty sure most of the questions above are gonna end up with
me ditching the old VHF/UHF Stuff but just want to make sure before
I hit the old delete button.
Please email me directly if you wish.
Thanks for everyone's assistance!

Webodisk reports he's copying 118.8hz as the PL on 155.7375.

It's supposed to be narrowband, but jsncrso says it sounds better on his old scanner than a newly programmed Minitor V, which leads me to believe that maybe it's still going out wide, and the Minitor is programmed to hear narrow, which would explain why the Minitor sounds crappy and the older scanner sounds good. Can someone with a properly equipped receiver confirm if it's going out wide or narrow?

Can anyone advise is Hatteras Island Rescue Squad will continue to maintain their tactical repeater for daily use?

Also, one would HOPE that the Hatteras Island powers-that-be would maintain the island's fire repeater with satellite receivers as a back-up to the 800mhz. The original RFP called for initially only one microwave link between the two Hatteras Island 800mhz sites and the controller.

There are reports on the obxconnection message board that the new radios don't work in Hatteras Village, so perhaps an additional site will be added at the extreme southern end of the island.

We're going down to Avon in August, and I hope to have my HT750 programmed up to open up for page-outs for Avon FD and HIRS.

Would anyone happen to to be able attach or email (manichee@knightsofvalour.info) me a gr5 file with working dare county 800mhz setup for arc500. I am in southern currituck and think I have my pro-106 programmed correctly, but i am only picking up bits and pieces of traffic. It may be a range problem.

got an 800mhz antenna from the shack, a litttle better but not great. Built a 7 element yagi for 858mhz, I now get about 99% of the transmissions cleanly.

Will just move the big antenna over to the 404 for traditional frequencies and the 106 will just be all 800mhz for dare and VIPER.

Dare TAC 19 has been used for most of the fire talk near Stumpy Point. Likely shifting over to a VIPER channel or a federal frequency now that those guys are on scene and taking over.

some talk has moved over to 14667 which is labelled "Training" for Dare but is also programmed in for some fish & wildlife people. There's also 14663 which they are calling M1 that is being used along with Tac 19.

I just had a couple of questions on programming this system in a PSR500. Does it need to be programmed as "P25 auto" or "P25 Manual"? Also I noticed in Win500 there is an option under trunking tables called "P25 800 mhz", does that need to be selected or will it track ok using the default trunking tables? Thanks for any info.

You won't hear anything from them on that fire. You will definitely hear about it on the Department of Forestry VHF freqs. And those numbers escape me at the moment.

What he said......

.....with PL of 241.8 for those use PL. And it's narrow band, too (11K2F3E), BTW. I imagine there is a plethora of traffic on their various simplex tac channels as well as one or more of the portable repeater pairs.

That is correct. That repeater is in Fairfield, so it might be hard to pick up. I am hearing it on my HT on Bodie Island. Also, I have a great view of the smoke plume from where I am.

The control point for the NC Forest Service District 13 repeaters is at the D13 HQ in Fairfield. The six individual D13 151.2200 repeater sites are the state sites in Columbia, Englehard, Plymouth, Stumpy Point, Swan Quarter, and Wanchese.

I'll tell you what. If the Wanchese repeater is working, I will kiss your hind parts. Or Swan Qtr, or Stumpy Pt. for that matter.

Quite frankly, it is of absolutely no concern to me whatsoever whether or not the Wanchese repeater ever works, and I am dead sure you will never kiss my hind parts. :D

I was simply referring to personal knowledge of the license and this: FCC Callsign WQBT828 Details

PS: there are some VIPER TGs being used rather frequently also according to other sources in state gov. I can't get those from here, but the info came from reliable sources in the NCFS.

same thing. I'm barely picking up something out of fairfield. 171.5750 is being used for air to ground and i'm picking that up fairly well.

Dare fire comms heard today

I went to Columbia today (half way to Manteo from my home in Chowan County) so I could better hear the comms at the fire. 164.625 186.2 pl is being used for some of the fire comms (very sporatic). Also the 172.675 weather hourly comm I heard is not P25 as I thought, its FM but I was driving and did not get the pl (if any). I had one scanner on P25 and my handheld on FM to see if the emisson was digital, it was not but I was going 70 at the time and could not play with the mode button.
