Up until last weekend I was receiving Dare Co PD/FD/EMS on my Uniden Home patrol. Now for some reason the FD/EMS have disappeared from the airwaves. I can get the sheriffs dept and town PD's on Viper but don't hear FD/EMS at all. Also, the paging freq for FD now just dispatches transports to and from hospitals and nursing homes. Any ideas? Thanks.

Reference to the fire paging, Dare County EMS does handle "routine" inter-facility transports within the county, and they are dispatched by Dare Central. If these are the only calls coming in, they'll be the only calls you hear on the fire paging channel. I recall hearing at least a few emergency medical calls when listening on the live web feed last week.
Yeah I did too..but now all I hear is inter hospital transports and the medflight helo being sent out. I also clicked on the link that Mike sent me in his post...but there is nothing to be heard except sheriffs and town law enforcement. FD and EMS are silent. Anyone else have any info on this?
Check your lock-outs. You may have inadvertently locked out a bank or group or scanlist or whatever they're called these days.
On a similar note, can anyone CONFIRM whether the new Dare fire/EMS pager channel is operating at 12.5 or 25 width?

Hey Rob,thanks for the info. I ordered a GRE PSR800 which should be delivered tomorrow. Hopefully that will work right out of the box with Dare Co. Do I just need to plug in the zip code and it will have it all entered for me? Thanks.
Yes, you can just enter the zip code, but I'd take the time to make sure the database is up to date. It's updated weekly here on radioreference.
Also, if you can PM me with your regular email, I can send you my CDAT file and you can install that as a virtual scanner (confusing, but read the manal). I've got all sorts of extra frequencies, like those for Giant Killer (military air control off the coast) Dare Bombing Range, etc. I've also edited the alpha tags to make them a bit more user friendly.
You can download the software here, and start playing around with it until the radio arrives. It's got the manual too.

Still not sure why you can't hear everything on HP-1.
If you download the software now, you can update the database and be ready to transfer the updated data to the radios SD card. There's a lot of customization you can do. change colors of blinking lights, change alpha tags, add additional frequencies, etc.

Thanks for that Doc, Rob. I have wondered for awhile about the ems codes. I am not sure why I stopped receiving them. It was working one day and the next I received nothing. I didn't change a thing on the HP1. I just figured they had migrated to a new system and thats why I couldnt pick anything up. The few transmissions I get on Viper from PD all sound garbled. I don't like that system at all.
