Hyde County to Join Dare and Tyrrell in Consolidated 911 Dispatch Center | OcracokeCurrent
Tyrrell and Hyde counties are moving their 911 dispatch centers to Dare's PSAP. Does anyone know how this will affect radios comms? Will their comms be heard on Dare's system or will they be interlinked in any way that will affect a scanner listener?
On another note, these systems will certainly be only linked via point-to-point microwave which is not the best idea. Even during a small hurricane such as Authur this past summer, northern Dare County lost it's P25 comms with Hatteras Island during the worst parts of the storm (the same happened in Irene IIRC) from what I believe was rain attenuation. Hopefully this will be a more robust system.
