The DART EDACS system is completely down. I hear nothing from my location.

I talked to a couple of DART cops at Chipotle last week and they had the new open sky radios. Harris i think?? anyway, they said they were very unhappy with the radios. They wouldnt specify if it was coverage, or bad bad digital, or just what but they miss the old conventional channel.

Isn't the old 800 Mhz DART conventional frequencies part of this BrokenSky system? I remember someone somewhere mentioned that they where. I do recall recently when I was doing a range scan that I heard digital noise on those channels.

I am sure the DART guys are having the same type of issues that other places are having. I know that NY State was testing a OpenSky system back a year or two ago,I think in the Buffalo area that they where going to roll out statewide but cancelled it due to some major issues. I also know too that the State of PA has been trying to get their statewide OpensSky system up to par for the past ten years. The PA system is way over budget and still has a lot of problems including coverage issues. I was reading something recently that the state of PA is buying another system (not sure why as they already have a legacy VHF system which they use a lot still due to problems with the OpenSky system) for backup. There has been a few municipalities in PA that I know of that went OpenSky and then ended up dumping it too because of problems.

I know this is not what you want to hear but don't be surprised if DART is happy with their new system. The DART users will take some time to adjust to the new Harris radios. That's to be expected.

The 935 Mhz system is what Harris calls Opensky 2. This is the "new and improved" version of Opensky that fits 2 voice slots in one 12.5 khz channel. The old Opensky system (as originaly deployed in PA and elsewhere) borrowed heavily from CDPD. It fit four voice slots in a 25 khz channel. The new system has more lax tolerances for subscriber units to confine their TDMA transmissions in the assigned slot. Just one of a number of tweaks to make the system more robust.

LCRA has been plowing ahead with their dual P25 / Opensky deployment to replace their EDACS network.

I don't know what's going on with DART's 851 Mhz former conventional channels. Someone will need verify if those are also Opensky channels or something else. The Unitrunker software will "fingerprint" 2 slot Opensky. That's one way to verify whether the data noise is in fact Opensky.

I couldn't get UT to work but the when compared to the 935mhz channels there is the same type of data stream so it looks like they are using those are well for the OpenSky system. I also found three 700mhz frequencies with the same type of OpenSky data stream also all licensed to DART, 771.53125, 771.69375 & 773.45625.

Also now hear digital on 856.2375, 857.2375 and 857.6875. These are 3 of the old 6 conventional channels.

There any software available that decodes OS on a D-Tapped scanner?

Turns out DART also has 770 Mhz channels on Opensky. The 935 Mhz channels appear to be simulcast. The 770 Mhz channels are not. I've updated the DB.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit OpenSky Trunking System, Dallas, Texas - Scanner Frequencies

Take a look at the FCC license ...

WQLF480 (DALLAS AREA RAPID TRANSIT AUTHORITY) FCC Callsign Details

I logged three of the licensed channels near DFW Airport that match locations 1 and 3. There should be at least one more active Opensky control channel for locations 2 (Richardson) and 4 (Buckner Blvd).

Cool. That confirms sites 1 and 2. Need someone in SE Dallas to confirm site 4.
