While recently visiting Dallas, I noticed that the rail operations were now on two channels; channel 1 (856.2375) is rail operations east and channel 4 (859.2375) is rail operations west. A sign is posted at the west end of the Pearl station advising train operators to change to channel 4. Unfortunately I couldn't find a sign notifying eastbound operators to switch to channel 1.
On December 6th, DART
opened the rest of the
Green line, which substantially increased the size of the system. Previously, only a short segment was open, from Victory Park (by the American Airlines Center), to Fair Park. Now, the full 28 mile of the Green are open, with 15 new stations opening. Only four miles had been open (other than some testing as segments were completed) before the 6th.
With the added rail traffic, I presume they wanted to split up the operations side. I usually have the Dart PD programmed, but not rail ops. Once they complete the
Orange line, through Las Colinas to DFW Airport (several years away), radio traffic will increase even more.
