Is there any way to filter out the data burst noise that preceeds the voice tranmission on the marcs system? Also the volume difference from conventional channels, loud?

What radio are ya using? If it's the Pro-96 just turn on the AGC, it will help even it out. Otherwise for that noise at the end of the transmition may be due to your signal strength.

Sorry guys, I am using bc796d and as I am writing this I can hear the burst behind me on marcs. Doesn't happen all the time but occasionally It will bbrrrrrrr, then the voice transmission is heard. It becomes so tiring that I usually turn the bank off. And to think I spent 500$ to listen to the bank I turn off the most. scannerdweeb.

Try adjusting the audio settings. It's not a data burst. That's the radio trying to grab the signal so it can decode it.

I hope your right about trying to grab the signal, however the manual states in the troubleshooting section that the digital systems can send data before a transmission.and as you state it could be heard because the signal is weak. the audio adjustments have not been succesful in getting rid of this noise, I will however try a beam antenna and aim it to acheive a better signal. If i'm getting voice, arent I getting a strong enough signal? scannerdweeb.

On a mixed-mode system, it is possible for any scanner to jump onto a channel in the middle of a data frame. In this case, the scanner cannot detect that the signal is digital until it sees the start of the next frame...in which case you will hear a data burst. This effect is worse in poor-signal areas. The alternative (mute until it determines analog/digital) would result in you missing the first part of every transmission...
