Data cables

I need a data cable for a bct15x. Most venders say the bct15x and bcd996p2 take the same cable but they look totally different. Anyone know if there the same or different.

They DO NOT use the same cable.
Any standard usb mini cable will work with the 996p2. You need a specific Uniden cable for the 15x or any of the XT radios.

Thanks, kind of what i thought. Not sure about the chip there talking about in the cable but it sounds like you have to DL a file so they both communicate. My laptop is about 3 yr old running win 10. I'll see what happens after i receive it.

If you do not have the special connector cable you can use the 9-pin connector at the back with a standard null modem cable, female-female. You set the speed and front or back connector to use in the menu. All connectors are RS232 serial so you have to use a USB-serial adapter if your computer only have USB.
