Data Channel on LTR - Columbus, OH?

In reference to B&C Comm #1 http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=1618

This LTR has the following freqs:
451.9375
452.2375
452.2875 (Data)
452.3625
452.4375

These are the same freqs listed in the fcc lookup site too.

I've never seen a LTR with a data channel and I can't get my BC 780 XLT to scan it correctly. I'm sure its the order of the channels are not being on the correct channel.

The above link doesn't have a certain order, but 1,2,3,4.
I tried programming these like most traditional 5 channel LTR systems,
Channel 1,5,9,13,17 with no luck. There's not a lot of activity but I have caught some conversations when manually tuning to each freq, but not using the LTR trunk search/scan mode.

First I'm wondering if that data channel shouldn't be in there or if anyone else has a setup that works.

There is one type of LTR (don't remember the type) that uses a control channel. Current scanners won't track that type.

Hello,

When you say data do you mean a frequency that has a continuous carrier with occasional voice on it or do you mean it keys up with data transmissions?

It is possible to transmit data over LTR. The data has a home repeater and group like the other voice groups.

LTR-NET and Multi-Net LTR systems have a frequency that is always on. LTR-NET systems should be trackable using a scanner supporting LTR. Multi-Net LTR systems are not trackable using a scanner.

It's a never ending continuous data signal.... Could be a newer LTR system that uses control channel, but again, i can get talkgroup ID's when holding on any the frequencies (other than data channel). But to do a full traditional trunk search/scan it never stops.

That sounds like some other sort of data. Not LTR Data. Almost like Telemetry of some sort

What you are hearing is "bleed-over" (adjacent channel interference) from a cab company's mobile data system operated on 452.300 (found on FCC records). The transmitter appears to have a very strong signal, so that's probably why you are hearing it on 452.2875.

COTA used to (maybe still does?) use the same type of data system, and I always hated that sound because their transmitter was so strong it would often interfere with my reception of UHF police, ham, and business frequencies.

I started excluding that frequency but never have gotten the correct order.
Maybe I or someone else may crack the correct order soon. Been too hot lately to attempt anything that might frustrate me :wink:
