Data Decode Threshold

PSR-800 APCO-25 (Armer System in Minnesota) Will playing with these numbers actually help at all with simulcast digital distortion? Or is a directive antenna the only way? I have home-brewed a 1/4 wave 853 Mhz rubber duck, which does help but, of course it limits receive. Currently using the Radio Shack 800 Mhz rubber duck (20-283). Thanks in advance for any input.......

I played with the numbers on a simulcast digital system in Johnson County Iowa and it helped greatly.....................I can not, however, monitor the system unless I am actually in the county........

A yagi pointed directly at one of the towers will also help.
