Im posting this here in the hope of getting a response (I already tried the radio shack forum...don't be mad...)

I hit a button while scanning a talk group and now it says "DATA" on the bottom of the screen and I can't get it off. What does this mean and how do I get it off?

Page 35 of the pdf Owner's Manual:
"SKIPPING DATA SIGNALS
To prevent the scanner from stopping on channels that
consist of nonmodulated or data signals (such as fax or
modem transmissions) during a search or scan, turn on
the data skip feature. When the radio receives a data
signal and data skip is selected, the signal is ignored.
To turn on the data skip feature, turn off the priority feature
if it is on (see “Priority” on Page 32), then press DATA.
DATA appears. To turn off the data skip feature,
press DATA again. DATA disappears.
Note: This feature does not apply to the air service band
as data signals are not generally found in this service."

Thanks, but, that doesnt work. I saw that in the manual also, made sure priority was off (i never use it anyway), and hit the DATA/ALT button. That doesnt get rid of the DATA; it only tells me which banks are activated...

Here is the answer to question on the data on the PRO-94 when scanning talkgroups. It is real easy to change just hit the enter/svc key when scanning talkgroups. The answer is on page 57 of the PRO-94 Manual online and don’t know if it is the same as the printed one. The text is this is copied below and I hopes that this helps you.

Turning On/Off the Motorola Disconnect
Tone Detect Function

While trunking a Motorola system, your scanner automatically tunes to the data channel when it detects a disconnect tone (a code that tells the trunking system that
the transmitter has finished sending) on the voice channel.

You can manually turn off this function so the scanner
does not tune to the data channel under those conditions. You might use this feature to listen to weak transmissions when conversations are generally disconnected.

To turn the disconnect tone detect function on or off, set
the scanner to trunk track then press SVC. The scanner
beeps and DATAflashes for about 5 seconds.

Notes:

To set the scanner so it remains on the voice channel (even when a disconnect tone is transmitted or
there is no signal at all) set SQUELCH so you hear a
hissing.
Trunking Operation

You cannot use the disconnect tone detect function
if you are programming a trunking frequency or a
fleet map.
To set the scanner to automatically tune to the data
channel once again when it detects a disconnect tone,
press SVC (E) .
