I'm wanting to start using Treport and am wondering if I'll need a 2 or 4 level data slicer for monitoring a P25 system. Best I can tell I'll need a 4 level but I'd like to get some advice first. Thanks.

You need a a 4 level slicer if it operates at 9600 bps. If the the trunked system has any analog talk groups then it operates at 3600 bps and you can use a 2 level data slicer.

Thanks for the reply. Anyone ever deal with discrimator.nl or use one of their 4-level slicers or know of any other ones? Thanks.

If the control channel is a 3600 baud Motorola signal then yes, Treport works exclusively with this type of signal - even if the voice channels are P25 digital voice. You can use a 2 level slicer or direct sound input.

If the control channel is P25 trunking (where all channels - voice and control - are 9600 bps) then you'll need a different program. In this case, a four level slicer won't help.
