• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I was reading about the four level interface and it talks about decoding flex paging and rd-lap mdt modes. I am wondering what these are. I also see that one says flex and pocsag. Correct me if I am wrong but I think these are pager data formats. And mdt is the police computers in there cars. Or this is a different variance of mdt. I am very interested in data coms. any and all info. very welcome. Thanks.

Sadly, it is against the law to decode pager transmissions. Therefore, your not going to find much help around here in that department.

MDT transmission come in several flavors, there is only one format that is decodeable (4800), and it is very rare to find in use. There is also sticky legal stuff that you can read more about by using the search feature of the fourms. Use keywords such as:

mdt AND legal*

Well I searched and boy did I find. I also found that you always seem to have a quick response to this topic. Why is that? Anyways I just want to understand how stuff I am not supposed to hear works. Why not? I am free to do what ever. (Thou shall not be caught if thou is caught thou no nothing)

I wonder about our mdt system hear we use the moto. type 2 p-25 system and I know they use mdt. However there is only one antenna on the car. I do frequent id searches and have not found a digital sounding talk group yet. I wonder if they do indeed use the cell phone packet data something or other even then where is the antenna for that?

I wonder though how hard it would be to buy that type of equipment to get mdt? Saying your rich. If I ever did only me, my self and I would know about it period. I am good with secrets believe you me.

Agreed. 100%. However this is very public fourm and dispensing clearly illegal advice would be counter-productive to the goals of this website. :)

It is poss that the MDT's use a frequency that is not one of the trucked frequencies. Our county has appro 15 freqs and 1 is set aside for MDT use and doesnt carry any voice traffic so it isn't set up like a talk group, just its own freq in the same general range. Jeff S
