Hello
I'm updating my sds100 database and firmware version, I know how to hook everything up and do the updates,.The problem I have is when I'am done doing everything I don't know how to disconnect the the scanner, I know there's a procedure on about going about it. I don't just pull the USB cable out? By now you can tell I'm a newbie, Can someone help me out with this?
Thanks as always omanzz

The proper way to disconnect is to right click on the icon down by the clock and eject the scanner or card if using a card reader.

You can find the drive (Scanner in Mass Storage mode) in windows explorer...
Right click on it to bring up the context menu and left click Eject...

Dave's way or this way... Either one will work...

Thanks everybody for your help, but I have been at this for hours, I'm afraid if I do the wrong thing I will screw up my new scanner up.

Go to lower right corner of your screen where the clock is and look for the icon circled in the 2nd pic. If its not seen, click the up arrow to reveal hidden icons that's shown in this pic.

Look for the icon circled in red.

Right click the icon and select Eject whatever corresponds with your Sds100

1693801653961.jpeg right click it, then click eject,
there might be an up arrow (dave showed one) and you would click on that to get to this.

I have the drive icon pinned to my taskbar. Whenever a device is plugged in, the drive icon appears. I just click on the icon and the device to eject.

I’ve never done anything other than disconnect the programming cable after the software finished its process, or push in on the SD Card to eject it. I have never had a problem! I know there is a process for disengaging the SD Card but since I’ve never run into problems I wonder if my version of Windows 11 has some sort of automatic switch that protects people like myself that don’t follow proceedure?

I didn't want to do it that way because of the chance of corrupting the software and turning it into a brick.
Thanks for your reply 👍 omanzz
