I need to update my BCT15X scanner with new frequencies my last update was done 2 yrs. ago. My question is with the operating systems. I am wondering if I can create a new radio reference database using my MacBook computer and saving the file to be used for uploading with my old windows xp machine that is already configured for uploading. Is this possible?

What software are you using on the Mac to create the database? As long as the file can be exported as CSV, then it can be read on Excel or one of the open source spreadsheet readers out there on a PC

I understand that folks have created a virtual Windows machine on a Mac and used FreeScan. I'm not up on Macs, so I will let others comment. In any event, this is an applications issue, not a database issue, since the database is always accessed using an app....

Probably a much better bet would be to get an old Windows 7 laptop - just keep in mind that Win7 is now out of support, but for your purposes, it would be just fine.

I was wrong in my first post regarding the database I was meaning the EZ scan or free scan software sorry for the confusion. Thank you Mike.
I used the EZ scan from RR with my old windows machine. I don't have any software for the Mac and just remembered that RR may not support the MacBook. Do you know if RR EZ scan is available for Mac? I am beginning to think that I will just have to use the old windows machine

RR has nothing to do with producing or marketing EZ Scan - that is a Whistler product. The 15X is not supported by EZ Scan - that scanner is supported by ARC-XT, ProScan and Freescan.

Probably better to use your old Windows machine and save yourself the hassle.....Mike

Hang on to that old Windows machine or get a used Windows 7 laptop. Cheaper than getting the software to run Windows on the Mac and will run any radio CPS that you will ever use.
